In 2013, I completed my first Yoga teacher training, and immediately began to draw connections between modern science, and  Yogic philosophy. I study, and teach, from a long lineage that believes that life is inherently beautiful, and that the path of Yoga is a tool set to better navigate the many twists and turns. Specifically, from the Tantra and Himalayan Traditions of Sri Vidya.

Even if you were not expecting this, here’s some background about what drives me to teach the way I do.

Social Location

I am a white, able-bodied, cis-female born to middle-class parents, who both love me.  These  privileges granted me access to earning 2 college degrees: psychology + biology.  Which allowed me to position myself in place to afford multiple Yoga Teacher Trainings, Ayurveda certifications, and follow up training hours. While my life has been far from easy, these points of privilege granted me access to power, knowledge, and resources.

Sankalpa

Defined:

From the Sanskrit words Sat (highest truth) and kalpa (vow).  Sankalpa is commitment we make to support our highest truth; statement you can call upon to remind you of your true nature and guide your choices

From my heart:

My daily life fuels my heart, soul, and bank account.

My work and life support liberation and freedom for all.

I deserve my own self-love, and  nurturance.

I am safe, and protected.

The Universe f*cking loves me!

My squiggly journey

  • “I’ve been to a few of Grace’s Deep Stretch Yoga classes lately, both standard and heated. I play tennis and kickbox regularly and have found these classes really restore the body. She does a great job walking through the poses and mixing up her routine without neglecting the essentials.”

  • “Grace leads with heart in her deep stretch class, which makes for a marvelous yoga experience. Came back today to participate in this class again.”

  • “Grace's class was so creative and playful - it was really unlike any other class I had taken. Thank you for having me - I'll be back!”

  • “Just wanted to reach out and express my gratitude for Grace and the vinyasa flow class she taught. Not only was the sequence engaging, challenging, and fun, but the way she wove in metaphors throughout class was on another level. On the last flow of the class, she turned us around, literally, and suddenly the flow we had been building for an hour felt totally different”
